Lead Applied AI Engineer

About the role

TCS is seeking a Lead Applied AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning and generative AI solutions that drive innovation and measurable business value. The role requires strong technical expertise and the ability to collaborate across global, cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Architect end‑to‑end AI systems, including RAG pipelines, multi‑stage retrieval, re‑ranking, agent orchestration and multi‑model integrations.
• Design modular, scalable, and operationally reliable AI solutions and define enterprise standards for prompt engineering, testing and evaluation.
• Lead production deployment with observability, logging, tracing, alerting and incident‑response practices.
• Mentor engineers through architecture reviews, design guidance, code reviews and technical training.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on AI/ML engineering.
• Proven experience delivering AI‑driven business outcomes and leading complex technical initiatives.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI principles, model governance and production monitoring.

• Python and FastAPI
• Distributed systems and cloud‑native architectures
• Vector databases, embedding models and LLM APIs
• React, Azure/OpenAI (preferred)
