About the role
Canonical is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a regional Sustaining Engineering team. The role focuses on open‑source software, Linux and cloud computing, ensuring that customers receive timely bug fixes and patches across the Ubuntu ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and lead a distributed team of engineers, fostering growth and high performance.
- Hire, coach, mentor, and provide career development guidance.
- Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team.
- Support the timely delivery of bug fixes, patches, and technical solutions for Ubuntu, OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes, Juju, MAAS and related technologies.
- Collaborate with the global Director of Sustaining Engineering on strategy and execution.
- Promote a healthy work‑life balance and a positive team culture.
Required profile
- Strong technical leadership with a solid background in software development.
- Experience managing engineering teams in a remote or globally distributed environment.
- Passion for open‑source software, Linux and cloud technologies.
- Ability to mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement.
