Software Engineer – Cloud Images

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Software Engineer to develop Linux‑based cloud infrastructure, pipelines and automation for Ubuntu. You will collaborate with major cloud partners such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google to ensure Ubuntu is the premier platform across public clouds.

Key responsibilities

• Build automated, highly reliable image delivery, testing and publication pipelines.
• Design, develop and integrate new Ubuntu features for public‑cloud users.
• Collaborate with a distributed team and engage with open‑source communities and commercial partners.
• Write high‑quality code for new features and system integrations.
• Design and architect complex cloud integrations and debug issues.
• Review peer code and participate in design discussions.
• Operate continuous‑delivery pipelines and support global travel for events.

Required profile

• Passion for technology and working with talented teams.
• Curious, flexible, articulate and accountable.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or related field.
• Practical experience with public cloud platforms.
• Interest and experience in at least three of: containers (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps automation, open‑source projects, APIs, Linux system administration, Python packaging, cloud‑based applications.
