Senior Database Engineer – StarRocks (Remote)

About the role

Deep.BI is looking for a Senior Database Engineer (DBE) to become the primary L3/L4 technical expert for StarRocks clusters. You will work remotely, supporting enterprise customers across South & Central America and the United States, ensuring their analytical systems stay reliable, scalable, and high‑performing.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues in StarRocks and other OLAP databases (performance bottlenecks, ingestion failures, query regressions).
• Optimize queries, schemas, ingestion pipelines, and configuration settings for high‑load environments.
• Collaborate with solution architects on data model design, indexing strategies, and HA/DR architectures.
• Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotations, providing rapid root‑cause analysis and incident resolution.
• Apply, validate, and test security patches (CVE remediation) in customer environments.
• Document best practices, create playbooks, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 2+ years hands‑on experience operating and troubleshooting production StarRocks clusters.
• Strong background in query optimization, indexing, schema design, and ingestion pipelines.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts such as consistency, replication, failover, and scaling.
• Experience with high‑availability and disaster‑recovery setups.
• Proficiency with Linux, basic networking, and SQL.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
