Senior Backend Engineer - Lodging and Cars

About the role

Join the Lodging and Cars Supply team to help scale a global hotel and car‑rental ecosystem that processes high‑volume, real‑time bookings. As a senior individual contributor you will work in a complex micro‑services environment, delivering reliable booking fulfillment, integrating new partners, and improving system monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Execute end‑to‑end technical integrations with external lodging, car and GDS partners, handling complex communication protocols and distributed data schemas.
• Write clean, performant code in Scala or other JVM languages to maintain and evolve mission‑critical services.
• Explore and troubleshoot existing codebases, resolve production issues in a distributed system.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Operations to translate business requirements into technical tasks and delivery estimates.
• Own the full development lifecycle for new features, from implementation and testing to production deployment.
• Contribute to the design of resilient, low‑latency services that ensure seamless booking under high load.
• Participate in code reviews and identify opportunities to improve scalability, performance, and system health.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in Scala or other JVM languages (Java, Kotlin) with a focus on high‑throughput services.
• Proven experience delivering features within a micro‑services architecture.
• Ability to work independently, explore ambiguous technical problems, and execute plans in an existing infrastructure.
• Excellent communication skills and a bias for action in a remote‑first, cross‑functional environment.
• Professional curiosity for travel‑tech and a commercial mindset focused on reliable booking fulfillment.
