MySQL Database Support Engineer – Remote (Americas)

About the role

Percona is looking for a MySQL Database Support Engineer to join its global support team. The role is fully remote for candidates located in the Americas and involves helping customer DBA teams resolve complex database issues.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and diagnose MySQL and InnoDB problems, providing clear analysis via email, chat or voice.
• Conduct screen‑sharing sessions for critical production incidents.
• Produce knowledge‑base articles, blog posts and webinars for the open‑source community.
• Collaborate with senior database experts and mentor junior team members.
• Travel occasionally for team meetings, conferences or on‑site customer visits.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with MySQL, InnoDB and related ecosystem tools.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot performance, query and index issues.
• Experience supporting customers in English and working in SLA‑bound environments.
• Self‑motivated learner eager to adopt new technologies.

Required skills

• MySQL, InnoDB, Galera / XtraDB Cluster, ProxySQL, Orchestrator
• Backup tools such as Xtrabackup, mydumper and Point‑in‑Time Recovery
• High‑availability solutions (replication, routers, proxies)
• Linux system administration
• Performance tuning, query optimization, index tuning
• Monitoring tools (Percona Monitoring & Management, PMM)
• Configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (including RDS)
• Kubernetes (desired)
