Lead Applied Scientist, Marketing

About the role

Launch Potato is looking for a Lead Applied Scientist to own the data‑science engine for its Marketing verticals. You will translate business problems into high‑impact machine‑learning models, see them through deployment, and monitor live ROAS performance.

Key responsibilities

• Define and frame business problems with stakeholders, focusing on measurable metrics such as ROAS.
• Design, build, and validate ML models for ad‑tech, recommendation, ranking, and LTV forecasting.
• Collaborate with ML‑engineering partners to ship models to production on AWS.
• Monitor deployed models, analyze performance, and iterate to improve revenue and lead quality.
• Lead modeling work for the Insurance vertical and expand to other brand portfolios.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on applied data‑science experience delivering measurable business impact.
• Proven track record in digital or performance marketing, lead generation, or ad‑tech environments.
• Strong business‑first mindset: start with the problem and metric, not the model.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• SQL for data extraction and analysis.
• AWS cloud services for model deployment.
• Multi‑armed bandit and reinforcement‑learning techniques.
• Recommendation and ranking systems (content‑based, collaborative filtering, hybrid).
• Funnel and monetization optimization, LTV modeling.
• Experience building ad‑tech algorithms and paid‑media models.
