Functional Tester

About the role

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Uruguay is seeking an experienced Functional Tester to join a team supporting a global customer. The role is suited for professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and can adapt to hybrid or onsite work models based on project needs.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze business and functional requirements to define test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
• Design, create, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Document, track, and manage defects using Jira.
• Validate data integrity and perform backend testing with SQL queries.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Developers, and QA team members throughout the SDLC.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Ensure traceability from requirements analysis through testing and defect resolution.
• Perform root‑cause analysis, verify bug fixes, and conduct regression testing before releases.
• Maintain testing documentation, execution reports, and testing metrics.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience as a Functional Tester, QA Analyst, or Software Test Analyst.
• Strong experience with Jira for defect tracking and test management.
• Hands‑on experience writing and executing SQL queries for data validation.
• Solid understanding of SDLC and STLC.
• Experience designing test cases and performing manual testing of web‑based and enterprise applications.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
