Data Center Technician I

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is looking for a Data Center Technician I to join its AI and Infrastructure division in Uruguay. You will work on the physical infrastructure that powers Google’s search, cloud, and AI services, handling servers, networking equipment, and related software.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain server hardware and components.
• Set up and manage networking devices such as routers, switches, hubs, and bridges.
• Perform component‑level repairs on IT equipment.
• Move and install racks manually, following safety and lifting guidelines.
• Participate in or lead small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.

Required profile

• Uruguay citizenship (required by local labor law).
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lb (23 kg) and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Minimum experience with component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Preferred: at least 1 year diagnosing operating systems, server hardware, or networking protocols; experience in a similar IT role.
