Data Center Technician I – English Speaking

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is looking for a Data Center Technician I to join its state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure in Uruguay. The role involves hands‑on installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of server hardware and related networking components while supporting client relationships in English.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and troubleshoot servers, racks and associated components.
• Perform component‑level repairs on IT equipment and resolve hardware failures.
• Configure networking hardware such as routers, switches, hubs and bridges and verify protocol operation.
• Move and install rack units, lift up to 50 lb, and perform physically demanding tasks safely.
• Collaborate with project teams on larger installations and develop contingency plans.

Required profile

• Uruguay citizenship (required by local labor law).
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lb and work physically for extended periods.
• Minimum experience repairing and troubleshooting technical equipment.

Required skills

• Component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment.
• Knowledge of operating systems and computer/server hardware.
• Understanding of networking protocols and hardware (routers, switches, hubs, bridges).
• Experience with Linux server environments.
