Data Engineer

About the role

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Uruguay is seeking a Data Engineer to support a global customer. The position operates in a hybrid model and requires a proactive professional who can thrive in a dynamic environment while contributing to enterprise‑grade data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with architects, engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to design, develop and deploy data‑driven solutions.
• Develop, test and modify software to improve the efficiency of data platforms and applications, including ETL pipelines and data migration processes.
• Coordinate with data operations teams to deploy changes into production and support test, QA and production environments.
• Identify technical problems, investigate root causes and propose robust solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience with ETL, SQL and big‑data distributed systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning and growth within the organization.

Required skills

• Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and other Azure data services.
• Programming in Python, orchestration tools, and Spark (PySpark, RDDs).
• ETL pipeline development, data migration, data transformation, and performance SQL tuning.
• Database technologies: Greenplum, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata, Hive, and delimited text files.
• Version control with Git, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and data streaming with Kafka.
