Principal Integration Architect

About the role

Applaudo is seeking a Principal Integration Architect to lead the design and delivery of a unified enterprise integration layer on Microsoft Azure. This 6‑month contractor position requires deep expertise in integration platforms, API ecosystems, and cloud‑native solutions, with a focus on driving AI‑enabled capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead implementation of a canonical integration layer that connects business domains across systems and verticals.
• Define, document, and enforce architecture standards, principles, and best practices for integration and API engineering.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to model domains and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Review pull requests, mentor engineering teams, and proactively surface and mitigate risks.
• Implement observability, monitoring, and telemetry using OpenTelemetry and Azure monitoring tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in architecture or senior technical leadership.
• Proven track record designing enterprise‑scale integration platforms and distributed systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Modern .NET development, async pipelines, and large‑scale codebases.
• API Architecture, REST, OpenAPI, OAuth2, OIDC, API security, and identity management.
• Domain‑Driven Design (DDD), Event‑Driven Architecture (EDA), CQRS, Event Sourcing, Saga patterns.
• Microservices, distributed systems, cloud‑native architecture on Microsoft Azure.
• Azure services: API Management, Functions, Service Bus, Event Hubs, AKS, Azure SQL, Application Insights, Azure AI Services.
• Test‑Driven Development (TDD), observability practices, OpenTelemetry.
• Experience leveraging AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and LLM integration.
