Venture Capital Investment Consultant

About the role

IDB Lab’s Venture Capital Investments unit seeks a dynamic, client‑oriented professional with strong analytical and financial expertise to support the Investment Officer in debt operations. The role focuses on originating, screening, and managing venture debt financing for high‑impact early‑stage companies across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and screen deal flow, building relationships with private‑sector stakeholders and Investment Officers across the region.
• Assess debt opportunities, lead sourcing, structuring, due‑diligence, financial analysis, modeling, and credit underwriting.
• Draft investment concept notes, memoranda, and maintain internal records of all debt opportunities.
• Prepare strategic documents and presentations for the loans portfolio, pipeline, and investment reviews.
• Support Investment Officers in supervising debt positions and coordinate country reports with other IDB Lab units.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business or related field; CFA designation highly valued.
• Minimum 5 years of transactional experience in debt operations within corporate banking, debt funds, or investment banks.
• Proven track record in financial analysis, modeling, and preparation of investment memoranda.
• Experience in Latin America and the Caribbean is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; Portuguese or French a plus.
