Financial and Credit Risk Management Consultant – Special Assets

About the role

The IDB Lab seeks a results‑oriented consultant to support the management and resolution of its Special Assets portfolio. You will work remotely within the Finance, Risk and People Division, reporting to the Division Chief.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze financial condition, credit risk and repayment capacity of distressed or underperforming clients.
• Conduct detailed financial and credit analysis, including review of statements, cash flows, debt capacity and liquidity.
• Assist the Senior Specialist in assessing restructuring, recovery and write‑off scenarios through quantitative projections.
• Monitor client performance, compliance with restructuring terms and payment commitments.
• Prepare draft memoranda, financial analyses and presentations for internal committees.
• Participate in client meetings and field visits as needed.
• Maintain up‑to‑date portfolio information and identify trends, risks and developments.
• Support the risk team in preparing portfolio dashboards, analyses and reporting materials.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in finance, economics, risk management or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in credit or equity risk management within the LAC region.
• Fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken); French or Portuguese is a plus.
• Citizenship or legal work permit for Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Peru or Uruguay.
• No close family members working at IDB, IDB Invest or IDB Lab.
