Telco Cloud Field Engineer

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Telco Cloud Field Engineer to help service providers design, deploy and operate open‑source telco‑cloud platforms. The role is remote, serving customers across the Americas and EMEA, and focuses on 5G, sovereign AI and related workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Translate service‑provider requirements into telco‑cloud architectures that support VNF/CNF, NFV and MEC workloads.
• Provide technical pre‑sales consulting and design open‑source multi‑tenant private and micro‑cloud solutions.
• Implement and demonstrate infrastructure‑as‑code practices using OpenStack, Kubernetes, MAAS and Ceph.
• Investigate, report and resolve software defects discovered during deployments.
• Support tenant onboarding, guide customers through architectural discussions and ensure production readiness.
• Gather feedback from engagements to drive product improvements and influence the roadmap.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of telco NFVi, NFVO, VNFM and MEC concepts.
• Experience with telco‑grade infrastructure technologies such as CPU pinning, NUMA, SR‑IOV and DPDK.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Linux, networking, OpenStack and Kubernetes.
• Python programming experience for automation.
• Ability to lead complex projects from start to finish and work collaboratively with customers.
• Willingness to travel up to 25 % of the time.
