Tax Specialist

About the role

Trafigura is seeking a Tax Specialist to support its Latin America operations from the Montevideo regional hub. The role focuses on providing tax advice, supporting M&A projects, managing tax litigation and audits, and ensuring compliance with transfer pricing rules across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax advisory to internal stakeholders and develop tax planning alternatives with Commercial, Finance and M&A teams.
• Assist in M&A projects by delivering tax input, reviewing economic models and leading tax due diligence.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and ensure immediate implementation of tax compliance.
• Maintain communication with tax authorities and manage notifications, information requests and litigation.
• Define and implement transfer pricing controls and monitor compliance across all LATAM transactions.
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on tax matters.
• Supervise calculation of Corporate Income Tax and coordinate intercompany funding in an efficient tax manner.
• Lead discussions with financial auditors on tax‑related items.

Required profile

• At least eight years of professional experience, with a minimum of six years in tax.
• Bachelor’s degree in law or accounting, majoring in taxes.
• Solid knowledge of tax law, regulations, and experience managing tax audits and litigation.
• Advanced proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking).
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
