Supervisor, Woodhandling

About the role

UPM is seeking a Supervisor, Woodhandling to lead safe, sustainable and efficient wood‑handling operations at its mill in Paso de los Toros. The role is responsible for meeting production, quality and availability targets while fostering a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, reliable and efficient wood‑handling operations, achieving safety, environmental, production, quality and availability goals.
• Minimize downtime, eliminate bottlenecks and lead actions to reduce operational losses.
• Ensure compliance with HSE and sustainability requirements and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, contractors and other departments to execute operational plans and improve maintenance strategies.
• Monitor equipment reliability, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee contractor performance to guarantee safe and efficient work.
• Optimize resource use and processes to improve cost efficiency.
• Maintain availability of critical production materials and support maintenance planning.
• Develop operator competencies through training, coaching and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• University degree in Production, Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Relevant experience in the process industry, preferably pulp or forestry.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Strong teamwork, communication, leadership and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent organization, planning and follow‑up skills.
• Willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
