Staff Software Engineer (Cloud Native)

About the role

Sportradar, a global sports technology company at the intersection of sports, media and betting, is growing its engineering team in Montevideo to work alongside its US-based product and engineering teams. The Sports Media Team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer who enjoys solving problems, building cloud-native solutions and thriving on cross-functional teams. The engineer designs, builds, tests and deploys cloud-native solutions used by enterprise customers, supporting billions of calls per month.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy cloud-native solutions for enterprise customers, working with Product, Engineering, Design and DevOps.
• Partner with architecture and external teams to design services with clear separation of concerns, and take part in pull and merge request reviews.
• Advocate for speed, scale, security and maintainability, and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Shape technical direction across the business unit, influence architecture decisions and establish best practices.

Required profile

• At least 7 years of professional software development experience, including SaaS, SQL, NoSQL and in-memory stores at scale, and Agile.
• Proven track record as an individual contributor who writes production-quality code.
• Experience leading cross-functional work in a CI/CD model with GitLab/GitHub and CI pipeline automation.
• Advanced English to collaborate with US teams in meetings and pair programming.

• RESTful APIs, microservices and GraphQL.
• JavaScript, TypeScript, Ruby, Node.js, React and SPAs.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS Aurora DB, MongoDB, Redis.
• Messaging and queues: Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, EventBridge.
• AWS: EKS, ECS, Lambda, Step Functions.
• Proficiency with AI tools in designing cloud-native architectures (AWS serverless or containers preferred).
