Sr. Sourcing Manager - Meetings & Events

About the role

This strategic, high-impact role leads complex venue sourcing projects for meetings and events, delivering cost savings and aligning with client business objectives. The person sources hotels and venues, negotiates contracts and tracks financial impact, working closely with account managers, sales, finance and meeting planners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead venue sourcing for complex, high-value client meetings and events, acting as a strategic advisor aligned with client objectives
• Manage RFPs and gather venue proposals using Cvent and other tools, conduct site inspections and negotiate contracts
• Oversee venue contracting and ensure a smooth hand-off to the Meeting Planner, and maintain accurate budget data for client decisions and financial reporting
• Provide financial inputs for project close-out and enter data accurately in Cvent and internal systems
• Collaborate with Sales, Planning, Finance and Event Technology teams, stay current on sourcing trends and mentor others
• Take part in supplier education (fam trips, seminars), keep up with supplier agreements and best practices, and lead training and skill-share sessions

Required profile

• 7+ years of related experience in the meeting and events industry with a sourcing focus
• 3-4 years planning high-profile programs, preferably with a sourcing focus
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; Certified Meeting Professional designation preferred
• Ability to travel 15-25% and participation in industry organizations such as MPI and IMEX

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
• Proficiency in Cvent for RFP management, proposal review and contract negotiations
• Preferred: SmartSheet or similar tools, and comfort with CRM, budget management and sourcing intelligence platforms
• Strong negotiation, analytical and project management skills
