About the role

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the reboot of its Landscape systems‑management solution for Ubuntu. You will guide a distributed team in modernising a service that already powers thousands of deployments, delivering a high‑quality SaaS and on‑prem offering for large enterprise estates.

Key responsibilities

Define and execute an engineering roadmap in partnership with product managers.
Grow, mentor, and lead a team of backend engineers.
Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering and business teams across Canonical.
Drive architectural improvements and operational excellence for the Landscape platform.
Provide regular updates on progress, successes, and areas for improvement.

Required profile

Proven experience leading backend engineering teams in a SaaS environment.
Strong understanding of large‑scale system management, policy enforcement, and compliance.
Comfortable working in a fully remote, globally distributed setting.
