Software Engineer – Python & Cloud (Graduate Level)

About the role

Canonical is looking for a graduate‑level Software Engineer to develop, test and release improvements to Ubuntu cloud images. You will work remotely with a globally distributed team and collaborate closely with major public‑cloud partners.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with a distributed team across Ubuntu and cloud partners.
• Write high‑quality Python code, including unit and functional tests, to add new features.
• Debug issues and produce reliable fixes for Ubuntu cloud images.
• Review code submitted by other engineers and discuss design solutions.
• Participate in 2–4 weeks of travel per year for internal and external events.

Required profile

• Passion for Ubuntu, open‑source software and building tools used by millions.
• Curious, flexible, articulate and accountable with strong self‑motivation.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or a related field.
• Extensive experience with Python on Linux environments.
• Interest or experience with Ubuntu, cloud platforms or related technologies.
