Marino Cocinero – Onboard Cook

About the role

SAAM Towage Uruguay is looking for a qualified Marine Cook to join its crew in Montevideo. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing and serving meals for the crew while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, hygiene and safety aboard the tug.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare balanced meals for the crew and manage provisions, ensuring proper storage, classification and inventory control.
• Carry out daily hygiene and safety maintenance in the galley, kitchen and mess areas, and support overall vessel cleaning to keep all spaces operationally optimal.
• Follow the captain’s instructions during port operations, navigation and special services, assisting with berthing, un‑berthing and other operational tasks in line with company policies and current safety regulations.

Required profile

• Valid Deck and Cook Seafarer’s Book (Libreta de Marinero de Cubierta y de Cocinero).
• Current seafarer’s book (Libreta de embarco) and up‑to‑date OMI safety courses (1.13, 1.19, 1.20, 1.21).
• Relevant certification aligned with the renewed seafarer’s book.
• Preferably at least 2 years of experience on tugs, tankers or merchant vessels.
• Availability to work in Montevideo.
