Marinero de Cubierta – Operaciones de Remolque

About the role

SAAM Towage Uruguay is seeking a dedicated Deckhand to support towing and mooring operations of its tugboats. The role involves ensuring safe, efficient deck activities, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with maneuvering tasks while adhering to company safety policies.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the Captain’s instructions during all onboard tasks, guaranteeing safe and efficient operations.
• Perform assigned security watches and patrols.
• Inspect, clean, and organize the deck to preserve the tug’s operability.
• Assist in towing maneuvers and port operations, preparing and maintaining ropes and related equipment.
• Report incidents, failures, and accidents, supporting compliance with operational procedures.

Required profile

• Valid Deckhand certification (Marinero de Cubierta) and current seafarer’s book.
• Up‑to‑date OMI safety courses (Certificates 1.13, 1.19, 1.20, 1.21).
• At least 2 years of experience on high‑sea tugs, tankers, or merchant vessels.
• Willingness to work in Montevideo.

Required skills

• OMI safety certifications (1.13, 1.19, 1.20, 1.21).
• Rope handling and deck equipment maintenance.
• Knowledge of tug and towing operations.
