Freelance Research Physicist – AI Training Projects

About the role
We are looking for a freelance research physicist to support AI training projects. You will create challenging optics and physics problems that help evaluate and improve AI systems for leading tech companies.
Key responsibilities
- Design original optics problems that simulate real research workflows.
- Ensure problems are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within days or weeks.
- Develop problem sets requiring non‑trivial reasoning in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics.
- Base problems on real research challenges or practical applications from optics and physics practice.
- Document problem statements clearly and provide verified correct answers.
Required profile
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a related field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in applied research, teaching, or related work.
- Experience with numerical simulation methods.
- Ability to design problems that mirror real physics research workflows.
- Strong written English (C1+).

What we offer
- Project‑based freelance contract.
