Fraud Prevention Analyst – Identity Theft

About the role

Mercado Libre is looking for a Fraud Prevention Analyst focused on identity theft. You will join the security team that protects millions of transactions across Latin America by designing and operating predictive models, rules and AI‑driven tools.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detection rules and machine‑learning models to identify identity‑theft patterns early.
• Monitor model performance and continuously refine features to improve detection accuracy.
• Balance identity‑validation conversion rates with fraud‑prevention effectiveness, minimizing false positives.
• Generate automated insights that trigger rejections, blocks or approvals in real‑time.
• Ensure a clear, intuitive experience for users, especially victims of fraud or false‑positive cases.
• Increase team productivity by integrating artificial‑intelligence solutions into daily workflows.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of experience in data analysis or data science.
• University degree in Exact Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics or related fields.
• Proficiency with large‑scale data querying and analysis tools, especially SQL and Python.
• Hands‑on experience with artificial‑intelligence or machine‑learning tools.
• Residence in Buenos Aires, Argentina or Montevideo, Uruguay.
