Financial Analyst – FP&A Team

About the role

As a Financial Analyst at Canonical you will join the FP&A team and work closely with the wider finance organisation. You will help shape monthly business reviews, quarterly forecasts, annual planning and financial models while driving data‑based decisions across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Generate insights into business operations by analysing unit economics, variance drivers and key performance indicators.
• Support quarterly and annual financial planning, forecasting, reporting and monthly budget reviews.
• Analyse commercial initiatives for strategic and financial impact.
• Create objective processes and analyses to enable fast‑growing tech operations to scale efficiently.
• Participate in cross‑functional change projects to improve systems, processes and data accuracy.
• Communicate progress and results to stakeholders against financial and strategic targets.

Required profile

• Strong academic record from high school through university.
• Proven problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills in English.
• Curiosity, flexibility and a self‑motivated attitude.
• Willingness to travel twice a year for company events.

Required skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheets and financial modelling.
• Understanding of core accounting principles.
• Experience with Business Intelligence reporting, CRM and ERP systems.
• Familiarity with budgeting and planning software or data‑visualisation tools.
