About the role
Canonical is looking for a technical Engineering Manager to lead the development of Ubuntu Core, the secure embedded Linux platform for IoT, automotive, aviation and other edge devices. You will guide a distributed team of engineers, shape the product roadmap and ensure delivery of high‑quality system software across multiple CPU architectures.
Key responsibilities
- Build and lead a distributed engineering team through hiring, coaching, mentoring and career development.
- Contribute directly to code and design to meet team goals.
- Prioritise stakeholder requests, define the roadmap and track delivery.
- Promote modern agile practices and champion a collaborative engineering culture.
- Represent the team in leadership meetings and coordinate with other engineering groups and external partners.
Required profile
- Proven experience in embedded software development and leading technical teams.
- Strong communication skills for setting expectations with senior management and external stakeholders.
- Passion for open‑source, Linux, containers and security.
