Client Compliance & AML Officer (Cayman Islands)

About the role

The Apex Group is seeking a Client Compliance & AML Officer to oversee compliance for a portfolio of client entities under Cayman Islands regulations. Based in Montevideo, you will act as AMLCO, MLRO and Deputy MLRO, ensuring robust anti‑money‑laundering and counter‑terrorist financing controls.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and audit AML/CFT policies, procedures and risk assessments for assigned client entities.
• Conduct transaction monitoring reviews, prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports and liaise with Cayman supervisory authorities.
• Provide advice to boards and senior management on AML/CFT compliance and regulatory developments.
• Oversee client screening, compliance registers and assist with regulatory aspects of client audits.

Required profile

• Strong academic background with professional AML/compliance qualifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA, CCAS) and experience in digital asset or cryptocurrency environments.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret Cayman AML regulations and international standards such as FATF.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills, with experience handling confidential information.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Experience using transaction monitoring and sanctions screening tools.
