Chatbot Developer (WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord) – Freelance

About the role

Mindrift is looking for a freelance chatbot developer to design, build and maintain conversational bots for messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Discord. You will work remotely on the Tendem project, integrating bots with backend services and large language models to deliver reliable, user‑friendly experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop bots for one or more platforms (WhatsApp Business/Cloud API, Telegram Bot API, Discord, Slack, etc.).
• Design conversational flows, state management and fallback handling.
• Integrate bots with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) for natural‑language responses.
• Connect bots to databases, CRMs, payment gateways and other third‑party APIs.
• Handle webhooks, rate limits and platform‑specific message formats (buttons, media, templates).
• Debug, optimise and refactor code to improve reliability and maintainability.
• Implement logging, monitoring and recovery mechanisms for production stability.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in backend, integration, automation or bot development.
• Strong foundation in building production‑ready conversational bots and working with APIs/webhooks.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
