Cards Operations Specialist

About the role

AstroPay is looking for a hands-on, technically driven professional to own its card operations and drive continuous improvements across its card programs. You will investigate complex issues, optimize transaction flows and manage operational challenges, working closely with card networks, issuing processors and cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Product, Fraud and Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Own and optimize card operations, focusing on authorizations, approval rates, transaction processing and overall reliability.
• Investigate declines, failed transactions and integration issues using SQL queries, API analysis, logs and monitoring tools.
• Lead operational projects end to end, coordinating teams, managing dependencies and removing blockers.
• Manage issuing processors and card partners, including incident resolution, escalations and performance improvements.
• Monitor operational KPIs, build dashboards and alerts, and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
• Work with Product and Engineering on new integrations, card features, launches and migrations.
• Use AI development tools to navigate codebases, contribute code changes and implement automations.
• Collaborate with Fraud, Finance and Compliance on operational and card lifecycle matters.

Required profile

• Experience in card issuing, card processing or card operations.
• Solid understanding of authorization flows, card networks and issuing processors.
• Proven ability to lead initiatives independently, coordinate stakeholders and drive execution.
• Strong analytical skills, ownership mindset and proactive problem solving.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish (mandatory).

Required skills

• Familiarity with Git and AI-assisted development tools.
