Accounting Specialist

About the role

The Accounting Specialist will manage the full‑cycle Accounts Receivable for the Nexion US business unit, ensure that financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP, and support month‑end and year‑end close processes. This role also handles commission payouts to advisors and collaborates with internal teams and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Process daily AR cash receipts, including checks, credit cards, wires, and ACH payments.
• Enter AR invoices, accruals, and maintain the AR database.
• Research and resolve invoice and payment inquiries from internal and external parties.
• Maintain cash register, prepare cash journal entries, and reconcile cash monthly.
• Assist with balance‑sheet reconciliations, event revenue/expense accruals, and month‑end/year‑end journal entries.
• Collect outstanding invoices to keep AR aging reports clean.
• Maintain agent W‑9 and banking information in AgentMate and NetSuite.
• Process bi‑monthly commission payouts to Nexion advisors.
• Provide support for the annual financial audit and ad‑hoc projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (preferred).
• Minimum two years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in AR operations.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Self‑motivated team player able to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
