Night Housekeeper

About the role

The Night Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining high‑quality cleaning standards and ensuring smooth operations of housekeeping, room service and laundry throughout the night on a cruise vessel. Working closely with the Chief Housekeeper, this role supports both guests and crew by delivering attentive service and overseeing night‑time housekeeping activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Housekeeper in managing the overall housekeeping operation during night hours.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of all ship areas to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Handle guest orders efficiently and update the Guest Recovery Log with any improvements.
• Monitor guest satisfaction by reviewing comment cards and rating scores.
• Perform random inspections of public areas, toilets, launderettes, laundry and room service to ensure cleaning standards.
• Prepare daily handover reports for the Chief Housekeeper and Butler Manager, including suite movements.
• Maintain and update the Silver Compass system and other operational logs (USPH, IPM, cockroach traps).
• Supervise the night‑time work schedule and ensure accurate time‑and‑attendance sign‑ins.
• Lead training sessions for night butlers, utilities and laundry teams.
• Prepare cruise reports, manage the complaint log and liaise with HR on personnel matters.
• Conduct equipment inspections, update maintenance logs and uphold public health cleaning standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in night housekeeping, preferably on a cruise ship or similar hospitality environment.
• Strong supervisory skills with the ability to coordinate a team and manage schedules.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleaning standards.
• Ability to handle guest inquiries and complaints professionally.
• Good administrative abilities for record‑keeping and reporting.
• Capacity to work night shifts and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
