Head of Secondary

About the role

The Head of Secondary will lead the secondary area of International College Uruguay, shaping a positive learning environment that supports the cognitive, emotional and physical development of every student while fostering professional growth for staff.

Key responsibilities

• Set and enforce rigorous academic standards aligned with school goals and monitor student outcomes.
• Develop area goals consistent with the school’s strategic plan and promote a culture of excellence, teamwork and collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with Uruguayan Ministry of Education regulations, Nord Anglia policies and accreditation standards.
• Manage, evaluate, supervise and develop secondary staff, holding them accountable for performance.
• Implement research‑based teaching methodologies, data‑driven instruction and common assessments.
• Oversee budgeting, personnel recruitment, selection and performance appraisal in partnership with HR.
• Act as liaison between teachers, parents and the community, supporting school marketing and communication.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in secondary education.
• Strong ability to develop and manage staff, curricula and assessment systems.
• Excellent understanding of local education regulations and international accreditation requirements.
• Effective communication skills for engaging teachers, families and community stakeholders.
