Full-Time Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA)

About the role

The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) works closely with the Staff Occupational Therapist to provide direct resident care and support therapeutic activities in a residential setting. This full‑time position ensures residents receive safe, effective treatment while maintaining accurate documentation and communication with the interdisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Treat residents according to the Occupational Therapist’s directives.
• Complete timely, accurate documentation meeting facility, governmental, and payer requirements.
• Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection‑control, safety, and equipment‑maintenance protocols.
• Participate in resident‑care conferences and rehabilitation meetings as needed.
• Assist the nursing department in training Restorative Aides.
• Communicate progress, goals, and discharge planning to physicians, nursing staff, residents, and families.
• Provide in‑service training for other staff members.
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home‑exercise programs, safety techniques, and fall‑prevention strategies.
• Recommend and facilitate ordering of durable medical equipment (e.g., adaptive devices, splints, grab bars).
• Report equipment issues and contribute to quality‑assurance and performance‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Associate Degree from an accredited COTA program.
• Licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state, with good standing and required continuing education.
• Proficient computer skills for data entry into Net Health and Point Click Care systems.
• Ability to read technical procedures, policies, and present information clearly.
• Basic mathematical and reasoning abilities for practical problem solving.
• CPR certification if required by licensure.
