Data Engineer Lead

About the role

Blend is seeking a Data Engineer Lead to design, develop, and support data solutions that power reporting, business intelligence, and predictive analytics across the organization. You will modernize manual reporting processes by turning Excel workbooks and repetitive data pulls into automated pipelines and scalable BI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated data pipelines and analytics solutions.
• Convert manual reporting workflows into fully automated processes.
• Optimize SQL queries, data models, and processing performance for production workloads.
• Support production data preparation and model scoring for predictive analytics.
• Monitor data quality, troubleshoot pipeline issues, and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Promote data‑engineering best practices and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, or similar role.
• Strong expertise with SQL Server, including complex queries, performance tuning, and data modeling.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into efficient SQL solutions using joins, window functions, and CTEs.
• Hands‑on experience with Python for automation and data processing.
• Experience building and supporting production pipelines on Databricks.
• Demonstrated ability to develop reports and dashboards with Tableau or comparable BI tools.
