Custodial Lead

About the role

The Custodial Lead oversees the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas, ensuring high standards of hygiene while guiding a team of custodial staff. This position combines hands‑on cleaning work with supervisory duties to keep facilities operating smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial duties and follow the established schedule.
• Provide direction and assistance to custodians as directed by the Custodial Supervisor.
• Assist in scheduling, training, and performance monitoring of cleaning staff.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and oversee its maintenance, repair, and inventory.
• Track and replenish supply inventories; support purchasing of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Conduct quality, service, and safety inspections; report incidents, hazards, and personnel issues.
• Monitor proper use of personal protective equipment and correct unsafe behaviors.
• Recommend corrective actions to improve cleaning processes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of related custodial experience.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification; driver’s license may be required.
• Completed safety and task‑training certifications; forklift certification may be required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret cleaning manuals, procedures, and safety documents.
