Software Engineer (Elixir/Phoenix) – Remote (Latin America)

About the role

Bluelight, a fast‑growing software consultancy, is seeking a Software Engineer specialized in Elixir and the Phoenix framework to join its remote team serving clients across Latin America. The role offers the chance to work on high‑impact backend projects, collaborate with product managers, designers and fellow engineers, and continuously improve the performance and reliability of our services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑performance, reusable backend systems and APIs using Elixir and Phoenix.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers to translate requirements into scalable services.
• Own features from specification through implementation to production release.
• Write unit and integration tests, conduct code reviews and uphold a high‑quality code culture.
• Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs and optimise application performance, scalability and fault tolerance.
• Stay current with Elixir ecosystem trends and best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency with Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Hands‑on experience with OTP, concurrent and distributed systems, and functional programming.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful (or GraphQL) APIs and work with PostgreSQL via Ecto.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, agile mindset.
