Laboratory Technician – Molecular Biology

About the role

BGI Genomics is establishing a state‑of‑the‑art laboratory in Uruguay and seeks a Laboratory Technician to support molecular biology testing. The role involves performing medical tests that aid in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention while operating high‑quality laboratory equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute experiments following strict methodologies, protocols, and safety standards.
• Conduct daily laboratory tests accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain detailed logs, equipment record books, and documentation.
• Perform risk assessments and identify or resolve issues affecting test performance.
• Support operational tasks and respond to new requests that add value to laboratory operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc.).
• Experience in a high‑throughput production environment; liquid handling automation experience preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English.
