Data Engineering Manager

About the role

Blend is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead the team that builds the data and machine‑learning engineering foundation for its growing AI practice. This technical leadership position combines people management, cloud architecture, MLOps, and delivery of production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Data Engineers focused on data and ML infrastructure.
• Define and implement scalable, cloud‑based MLOps approaches.
• Establish the engineering foundation to support ML models throughout their lifecycle.
• Oversee development of data pipelines, ML infrastructure, deployment processes, monitoring, automation and CI/CD.
• Partner with Data Science leadership to move models efficiently from development to production.
• Define engineering standards, best practices and reusable patterns for data and ML engineering.
• Guide architecture and technical decisions for cloud data and ML infrastructure.
• Help build the technical foundation for future agentic architecture and AI initiatives.
• Evaluate technologies based on scalability, reliability, maintainability and delivery needs.
• Balance immediate delivery requirements with long‑term platform investments.
• Provide technical mentorship to senior engineers and foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Significant professional experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong hands‑on experience with cloud‑based MLOps.
• Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams.
