Tax Manager

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing tax team. You will handle the full spectrum of tax work, from U.S. income tax and year‑end filings to sales‑tax compliance, while serving as a trusted point of contact for clients and internal teammates.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sales‑tax function including compliance, filings, nexus reviews, and client inquiries.
• Prepare and review business and individual tax returns across a multi‑client portfolio, meeting all deadlines.
• Communicate tax matters clearly with clients and internal teams, owning work end‑to‑end.
• Help build and document tax processes, staying current on federal, state, and local tax changes.

Required profile

• Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or equivalent experience with a proven track record in U.S. income tax and year‑end work.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple client deadlines without supervision.
• Willingness to take initiative, dig into details, and thrive in a fast‑growing startup environment.

Required skills

• Experience with sales‑tax platforms such as Avalara and TaxJar
