Senior Backend Engineer Tech Lead (3-4 month contract) – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to act as Tech Lead on a 3‑4 month remote project for a US‑based client. You will join the client’s existing engineering team, collaborate daily with designers and developers, and drive the architecture of backend‑for‑frontend (BFF) services and API middleware for mobile platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable micro‑services and event‑driven architectures.
• Architect and maintain BFF systems and robust API layers.
• Integrate and optimise AWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, ElastiCache, S3, CloudFront).
• Collaborate with product, design and external vendors, representing the engineering team in client‑facing meetings.
• Ensure continuous integration and delivery pipelines are reliable and automated.
• Mentor junior engineers and enforce best practices in code quality and security.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years in a technical leadership role influencing architecture.
• Advanced English communication skills.
• Completed a four‑year college degree.
• Proven experience delivering large, complex systems on time.

Required skills

• Node.js and TypeScript.
• AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda, ElastiCache, S3, CloudFront).
• MongoDB and backend deployment pipelines.
• Salesforce OCAPI/API and CMS‑driven content management.
• Design and security of scalable micro‑services and event‑driven architectures.
• AI development tools such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• CI/CD, Agile/Scrum methodologies.
