Senior AI Engineer

About the role

Alabama Solutions is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy production‑ready AI solutions. You will collaborate with software engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to turn AI concepts into scalable, secure applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and launch Generative AI, LLM‑powered applications, intelligent assistants, AI agents and automated workflows.
• Implement Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, semantic search, embeddings and vector‑database solutions.
• Integrate Large Language Models via Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs or equivalent platforms and build prompt, tool‑calling and orchestration mechanisms.
• Evaluate models, define performance criteria and monitor accuracy, latency, security and cost.
• Provide technical leadership, define standards and mentor multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software development, solution design or architecture experience.
• 2+ years of hands‑on AI solution design and implementation, including Generative AI and LLM applications.
• Proven ability to take AI prototypes or proofs of concept into production.
• Strong communication skills to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required skills

• Python and/or C#/.NET development.
• Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, Azure AI Search, Azure Machine Learning.
• RAG, prompt engineering, embeddings, semantic search, vector databases.
• REST API design, Git, relational databases, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Azure DevOps.
• Frontend frameworks such as Angular or React.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit‑learn).
