Primary English Curriculum Coordinator

About the role

The Primary English Curriculum Coordinator leads the design, implementation and continuous improvement of all English‑medium teaching across the Primary school at International College Uruguay. Working closely with the Primary Spanish Coordinator, the role ensures coherence, consistency and high‑quality learning experiences for students.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and refine the English curriculum for all Primary grades, aligning language development with content subjects.
• Support teachers with instructional coaching, lesson planning, differentiation and scaffolding for English language learners.
• Conduct classroom observations, provide actionable feedback and model effective English‑medium teaching strategies.
• Monitor curriculum delivery, assessment practices and student learning data to maintain quality and inform interventions.
• Collaborate with other curriculum leaders to ensure cross‑curricular integration and vertical progression.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding and professional development of teaching staff.
• Oversee attendance, staff coverage, reporting systems and academic calendars for the English programme.
• Promote an inclusive, safe and respectful learning environment and support extracurricular initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in primary education, curriculum design and instructional leadership.
• Strong understanding of English language acquisition and second‑language teaching methodologies.
• Excellent communication, coaching and collaborative skills.
• Ability to analyse student data and drive evidence‑based improvements.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and high‑expectation learning culture.
