About the role

The Head of Secondary will lead the secondary area at International College Uruguay, shaping a positive culture that supports the cognitive, emotional and physical development of every student while fostering professional growth for staff.

Key responsibilities

• Set and enforce rigorous academic standards aligned with school goals and monitor student outcomes.
• Develop area goals consistent with the school’s strategic plan and promote a collaborative culture among teachers, students and families.
• Manage, evaluate and develop secondary staff, ensuring the use of research‑based, data‑driven instructional practices.
• Oversee compliance with Uruguayan Ministry of Education regulations, Nord Anglia policies and accreditation standards.
• Assist in budget development, personnel recruitment, selection and performance appraisal.
• Serve as liaison between teachers, parents and the community, supporting school marketing and communication.

Required profile

• Proven leadership, supervisory and administrative experience in an international school setting.
• Ability to create and sustain a professional, inclusive culture that drives student achievement.
• Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment design and data‑driven instruction.
• Experience ensuring regulatory compliance and managing school budgets.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging staff, students, families and the wider community.
