About the role

The Head of Secondary leads the secondary area at International College Uruguay, ensuring a high‑quality learning environment that supports the cognitive, emotional and physical development of every student. This senior leadership position reports to the Head of School and works closely with faculty, staff and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Set and enforce rigorous academic standards aligned with International College goals.
• Develop and implement area goals consistent with the school’s strategic plan.
• Lead teachers in fostering a collaborative, excellence‑driven culture.
• Oversee student behavior, performance and attendance standards.
• Design and manage systems, protocols and procedures to improve operations, safety and well‑being.
• Manage, evaluate and develop secondary staff, ensuring accountability and professional growth.
• Implement research‑based, data‑driven instructional practices and provide curricular training.
• Ensure compliance with Uruguayan Ministry of Education regulations, Nord Anglia policies and accreditation standards.
• Assist in budget development, recruitment and performance appraisal processes.
• Act as liaison between teachers, parents and the community, promoting positive relations.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in secondary education.
• Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment and data‑driven instruction.
• Ability to develop and sustain a positive school culture.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
