Freelance Senior Data Engineer (LATAM based)

About the role

Arionkoder, an AI consulting firm, is hiring a freelance data engineer to build the structured core of a governed data foundation on Databricks, used by AI agents, applications and business teams. The role is remote and LATAM based, working autonomously with business stakeholders and within a small team alongside the client's data platform team.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile business entities across systems using different identifiers, and define facts with their source and validity period
• Turn business definitions into certified tables and implement access control
• Build the APIs and MCP tools that serve this data with the caller's permissions
• Provide trusted data to the AI engineer, who handles knowledge extraction, retrieval, agent behavior and evaluation
• Follow the client's conventions and hand over what you build

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional data engineering, building production-grade pipelines and data models
• 3+ years hands-on with Databricks in production, including Unity Catalog
• Strong SQL and Python, able to write, debug, optimize and refactor pipelines alone; Spark/PySpark a plus
• History-aware data modeling (SCD Type 2, effective dating, temporal validity) with provenance and lineage
• Data quality discipline (dbt tests, Great Expectations or similar) and CI/CD for data
• Entity resolution or master data, incremental and change-driven processing (CDC, streaming)
• Production access control (row-level security, column masking, role/attribute-based access) and experience building data-serving APIs
• C1 English, comfortable working fully remote with a client team

Preferred

• Exposing data via APIs or MCPs, multi-tenant isolation, and data from NetSuite or Salesforce
• Governing unstructured content alongside structured data, FinOps on data platforms
