Data Engineer (Remote, Latin America)

About the role

Bluelight Consulting is seeking a remote Data Engineer to support its growing portfolio of data‑intensive projects across Latin America. The role involves designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and warehouses on AWS, ensuring high availability and performance for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and operate data pipelines using AWS services such as S3, Athena, EC2, EMR, and Glue.
• Integrate data from multiple sources and transform it with tools like Pentaho Kettle, SnapLogic, Talend, Jitterbit, or Informatica.
• Design, implement, and optimise data warehouse schemas (star‑schema, CDC, denormalisation) on Redshift, PostgreSQL, and other RDBMS.
• Collaborate with analytics and BI teams to deliver data models for reporting tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or GoodData.
• Monitor and troubleshoot cluster performance, data quality, and governance issues.
• Maintain version control using Git and follow Agile development practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience with AWS data services and cloud‑based data platforms.
• Strong background in relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift).
• Hands‑on experience with data integration/ETL tools and BI reporting solutions.
• Familiarity with web services (XML, REST, SOAP) and SaaS data sources such as Salesforce.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and customer‑service orientation.
