Cleaning Staff - School Facilities

About the role

A school in Woodlands is looking for a cleaner to keep its facilities tidy and hygienic. The role covers daily cleaning, restroom maintenance, surface disinfection and deep cleaning, and requires attention to detail, reliability and teamwork.

Key responsibilities

• Daily cleaning: sweep, mop, vacuum and polish floors; dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, windowsills and fixtures; empty and sanitize waste bins and replace liners.
• Restroom maintenance: clean and disinfect toilets, sinks and fixtures; replenish toilet paper, soap and paper towels so restrooms stay hygienic and odor-free.
• Surface disinfection: regularly sanitize high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches and handrails.
• Specialized cleaning: perform scheduled deep cleaning (carpets, windows, floor stripping and waxing); handle spills and accidents promptly and safely.
• Supplies and equipment: use cleaning equipment properly, report malfunctions, monitor and restock supplies.
• Health and safety: follow procedures for cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials, wear PPE and adhere to safety protocols.
• Maintain neat storage areas and report maintenance issues (leaks, broken fixtures) to the supervisor.
• Collaborate with other staff, communicate clearly and follow daily task lists or supervisor instructions.

Required profile

• No formal education required; basic literacy and numeracy are helpful.
• Previous cleaning or janitorial experience is preferred, especially in schools, childcare or similar settings.
• Reliable and punctual, with consistent attendance.
• Willingness to follow the school's safeguarding and health and safety principles, which include vetting procedures for all post holders.

Required skills

• Attention to detail and ability to clean thoroughly without missing areas.
• Time management to finish tasks within set timeframes, especially during breaks or after school hours.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques: disinfecting surfaces, cleaning different floor types and handling spills.
• Safe operation of vacuums, floor scrubbers, mops and other cleaning tools.
• Familiarity with safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
