Analytics Engineering Manager, Data Platform & Governance
LawnStarter
Job description
About the role
LawnStarter is looking for its first dedicated data‑governance leader. You will own the trustworthiness of the entire data stack—from source ingestion to dashboards and AI models—ensuring quality, freshness, and security. This is a hands‑on manager role that will start solo and grow into a team as the platform matures.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute a quarterly data‑governance roadmap aligned with product, marketing, ops and finance needs.
- Implement automated monitoring for data quality, freshness, and schema changes across Redshift, dbt pipelines and Lightdash reports.
- Maintain a living data lineage map and enforce data contracts to catch breaking changes before they reach production.
- Administer Lightdash workspace structure, permissions, and certification to enable self‑service while preventing dashboard sprawl.
- Govern Segment event catalog, enforce naming standards, and manage drift detection.
- Oversee AI data readiness, ensuring AI tools access only documented, safe, and compliant data.
Required skills
- Experience with Amazon Redshift and SQL.
- Proficiency in dbt for data modeling and Airflow for orchestration.
- Knowledge of Segment event tracking and governance.
- Hands‑on experience with Lightdash or similar BI platforms.
- Understanding of data quality monitoring, lineage, and semantic layer concepts.
- Familiarity with data security, PII handling, and privacy regulations.
