StarRocks Expert Database Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a StarRocks Expert Database Engineer to join our Open‑Source Database Support team. Working remotely, you will act as the primary L3/L4 technical authority, helping customers resolve the most complex production issues on StarRocks clusters and ensuring high‑performance analytical workloads stay reliable and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve advanced performance bottlenecks, ingestion failures, and query regressions in StarRocks and other OLAP databases.
• Optimize queries, schemas, ingestion pipelines, and configuration settings for high‑load environments.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects to design data models, indexing strategies, and HA/DR architectures.
• Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotations, providing rapid root‑cause analysis and incident remediation.
• Apply, validate, and test security patches (CVE remediation) in customer environments.
• Document best practices, create playbooks, and mentor junior engineers.
• Optionally support deployment automation with Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and security compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience operating and troubleshooting production StarRocks clusters.
• Strong background in query optimization, indexing, schema design, and ingestion pipelines.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts such as consistency, replication, failover, and scaling.
• Experience with high‑availability and disaster‑recovery configurations.
• Proficiency with Linux, basic networking, and SQL.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
